Hungary 88
Heart of Europe Tour
American Express Vacations
July 12 and 13, 1988
After leaving Vienna, Austria our coach headed southeast to the Hungarian border at Hegyeshalom. The meal in our hotel that night was one of the finest we have ever had anywhere.
Buda and Pest are divided by the river Danube. Both sides
are equally rich in charm.
The picture below is of Pest. Nice wide street but cars were not yet available to the average person in 1988.
The main bridge connecting the two parts of the city is below. We visited the 13th century Matthias Church on the Pest side as well as the Fishermen's Bastion.
In the afternoon we had a boat ride on the Danube and witnessed the beauty of the city from a different perspective.
That evening we were privileged to see The Hungarian State Folk Ensemble perform "Wedding at Ecser". It was simply fantastic!
