Trafalgar Tours
June 11 - 13 and 23, 2000

Arriving in Frankfurt early morning, we soon departed for our hotel and introductions to other members of our tour group.  After a bus tour of the city we joined the others for dinner at our hotel.

Early next morning we were on our way to fascinating Berlin.  The city was impressive for all it parks in the midst of old and new.  There is a lot of new construction going on throughout the eastern and western sectors.

One site familiar to most was the Brandenburg Gate.

We all had a super night of food and entertainment at the Zikos restaurant.

The Berlin Wall which separated east from west was torn down in 19?? but a part of it still remains as testimony to those terrible times.

Checkpoint Charley was one of the most famous spots during the division of Berlin.  A museum full of stories and devises used by those attempting to escape to the west is at the spot of the original checkpoint.  The picture below is one of the showpieces there.  It is an example of one of the techniques used to smuggle someone out by sewing them into a seat.  The risks folks would take to gain freedom from Communism was impressive.

Near the end of our tour which included Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Austria, and the Czech Republic we returned to Germany.  Southern Germany is spectacular.  The farms, houses and towns are all picture perfect.

We spent the night in Munich and enjoyed a festive dinner.

After dinner we all strolled to the Hauf Brau Haus where we capped the evening with liquid refreshments.

What a waiter!

The musical entertainment was typical German.

Our final day was another beautiful day driving to Frankfurt.  Our final meal with our group was in the hotel where we joined our friends from Houston for a final farewell.
